About Lisa Warner
I joined the Marine Corps in 1983 after realizing that I needed to make a change, and this was the best way to do it. Being a Marine taught me discipline, honor, integrity, and honesty. I was honorably discharged in 1987, but, I still carry those same core values with me every day.
About Our Name
Many United States Marine Corps publications claim that the nickname “Teufel Hunden”[a]—”Devil Dogs” in English—was bestowed upon the Marines by German soldiers at the Battle of Belleau Wood in June 1918. “Devil Dog” was also the nickname of the amphibious assault ship USS Belleau Wood, as well as the mascot of the Quantico Marines football team. The nickname endures today as part of the Marine Corps’ legacy.
